Soluble in methanol, ethanol, tetrahydrofuran, dichloromethane and other organic solvents. Slowly decomposes upon contact with water, releasing hydrogen; moisture sensitive.
Uses:Used as a selective reducing agent in organic synthesis, reducing ketones and aldehydes to the corresponding alcohols, as well as reducing imines and oximes. It serves as a borane source in hydroboration reactions, participating in the hydroboration-oxidation of alkenes to construct alcohol compounds.
