Physical Properties:White powdered amorphous porous material with the composition expressed as SiO2·nH2O, where hydroxyl groups exist on the surface. Insoluble in water, solvents and common acids; soluble in caustic alkali and hydrofluoric acid. Heat-resistant, non-flammable, odorless and tasteless, with excellent electrical insulation properties.
Uses:Mainly used as a reinforcing filler in rubber products, replacing carbon black in colored or translucent rubber to improve tear resistance and aging resistance. In agrochemicals, it serves as a carrier, diluent or disintegrant to improve suspension rate and persistence. Also used as an abrasive in toothpaste, a thixotropic agent in adhesives, a paper filler and an anti-caking agent.
