Physical Properties:White crystalline powder, readily soluble in water and alcohol, hygroscopic. Density approx. 1.65 g/cm³, melting point 73.6 °C, decomposes at about 200 °C to form phosphine and phosphoric acid. It is a dibasic medium-strength acid with reducing properties.
Uses:Mainly used for preparing phosphite salts, polyester stabilizers, plastic additives and dye intermediates; also used as a reducing agent, water treatment agent and intermediate in pesticide synthesis. In agriculture it can be used to produce phosphite-based fungicides.
