Uses:Esmolol is an ultra-short-acting selective β1-adrenergic receptor antagonist that rapidly reduces heart rate and myocardial contractility. It is mainly administered intravenously for the management of perioperative sinus tachycardia and hypertension, as well as rapid ventricular rate control in supraventricular tachycardias such as atrial fibrillation and atrial flutter. Due to its rapid onset and fast metabolic clearance, it is suitable for acute and intensive care settings requiring short-term heart rate regulation.
