Physical Properties:Colorless to light yellow transparent liquid with a characteristic hydroxyl odor; readily soluble in water, ethanol and ether; easily undergoes condensation to form polysiloxanes under acid or heat. Density approx. 0.98 g/cm³, melting point approx. -70°C, boiling point approx. 145°C (accompanied by condensation/decomposition), flash point approx. 40°C.
Uses:Used as an intermediate in organosilicon monomer synthesis, for the preparation of polydimethylsiloxane, silicone resins and silane coupling agents; also used for surface hydrophobic modification and glass fiber treatment.
