Soluble in methanol, ethanol, diethyl ether, tetrahydrofuran and other organic solvents; slowly decomposes in water releasing hydrogen gas. Stable in air, sensitive to moisture.
Uses:Pyridine borane is a mild selective reducing agent used in organic synthesis to reduce aldehydes and ketones to corresponding alcohols and imines to amines, widely applied in the synthesis of pharmaceutical intermediates and fine chemicals.
