Physical Properties:Yellow-green to dark green powder with a slight metallic luster, odorless or with a faint characteristic odor. Freely soluble in water, giving a transparent emerald-green solution; slightly soluble in ethanol and chloroform; insoluble in ether and petroleum ether. The pH of a 1% aqueous solution is 9.0–10.7. It has better light resistance than natural chlorophyll, is relatively stable in acidic environments of pH 4–6, and may precipitate in the presence of calcium ions (hard water). It is relatively heat-stable, but prolonged heating at high temperatures may affect the color.
Uses:Mainly used as a colorant in food, pharmaceuticals, daily chemicals, and industrial fields.
