Physical Properties:White or off-white crystalline powder, odorless and tasteless. Slightly soluble in water, freely soluble in dilute acid or dilute alkali solutions, insoluble in ethanol, chloroform and ether. Isoelectric point is about pH 5.3. Stable in solid state; aqueous solutions are stable under acidic conditions, but easily inactivated by high temperature, strong acid or strong alkali.
Uses:Mainly used for the treatment of type 1 diabetes mellitus and type 2 diabetes requiring insulin control, as well as acute conditions such as diabetic ketoacidosis and hyperglycemic hyperosmolar state. It regulates glucose metabolism, lowers blood glucose, and promotes the synthesis of glycogen, fat and protein.
