Weakly basic, reacts with acids to form corresponding ammonium salts.
Uses:Primarily used for the synthesis of quaternary ammonium salt cationic surfactants, and as a phase transfer catalyst and organic synthesis intermediate. In the metalworking industry, it serves as a corrosion inhibitor and lubricating additive. It is also employed in the production of bactericides, mildew inhibitors, and mineral flotation collectors.
