Uses:As a specific thrombin inhibitor, hirudin effectively suppresses thrombin activity and blocks the conversion of fibrinogen to fibrin. It is widely used clinically for the prevention and treatment of thrombotic diseases such as deep vein thrombosis, myocardial infarction, and unstable angina. It is also commonly used as an anticoagulant and a thrombin activity detection tool in biomedical research.
