Uses:Used as an acid-base indicator with a pH transition range of 3.0 (yellow) to 4.6 (purple), and also as an adsorption indicator. It is also employed as a reagent in thin-layer chromatography for the determination of aliphatic carboxylic acids, sugar alcohols, and chlorine-containing pesticides, and as an extraction-separation agent for the photometric determination of quaternary ammonium cations.
