Physical Properties:Red-brown crystalline or red flaky solid with a hydrogen sulfide odor; readily soluble in water, producing a strongly alkaline solution; hygroscopic and gradually oxidized in air, and decomposes on contact with acids to release hydrogen sulfide and sulfur.
Uses:Used mainly to produce sulfur dyes, organosulfur compounds and polysulfide polymers; also used as a vulcanizing agent in the rubber industry, and applied in leather unhairing, paper pulping and ore flotation.
