Physical Properties:Grayish-white or light yellow powder; the technical product appears as light yellow powder with a sulfurous odor. Practically insoluble in water, soluble in carbon disulfide, ammonia water, and alkaline solutions. It decomposes readily in acidic media and decomposes upon heating, releasing irritating and toxic gases.
Uses:Zineb is a broad-spectrum protective organosulfur fungicide with good preventive efficacy against fungal diseases of various crops. It is mainly used to control downy mildew, late blight, black spot, rust, and other diseases on vegetables, fruit trees, and field crops. It exerts its fungicidal action by inhibiting the oxidation of pyruvate in pathogenic fungi and interfering with their metabolic processes.
