Physical Properties:Colorless to light yellow liquid that quickly turns yellow upon exposure to air; has a strong pungent odor of ammonia and hydrogen sulfide. It is weakly alkaline, decomposes in acids releasing hydrogen sulfide, miscible with water and ethanol, and decomposes when heated.
Uses:Used as a sulfide precipitating agent and analytical reagent in chemical analysis; also applied in photographic development, ammonium salt preparation, sulfur dye manufacturing and pharmaceuticals. In industry, it is used as a fungicide and reducing agent.
