Almost insoluble in water; soluble in ethanol, ether, benzene, chloroform and other organic solvents. It is basic and can form salts with acids.
Uses:Dodecylamine is used to prepare surfactants, mineral flotation collectors, bactericides and textile auxiliaries, and is a key intermediate for cationic surfactants. In the pesticide industry, it serves as an intermediate for fungicides; in the fertilizer industry, it acts as an anti-caking agent; it can also be used as a metal corrosion inhibitor.
