Melting point 16-18°C, boiling point approximately 380°C at atmospheric pressure, density about 0.79 g/cm³, flash point >100°C. Insoluble in water, readily soluble in ethanol, isopropanol, acetone, ether and other organic solvents. Weakly alkaline, forms salts with acids and undergoes quaternization with alkyl halides.
Uses:Mainly used for preparing quaternary ammonium cationic surfactants, softeners, antistatic agents and bactericides. Also used as emulsifiers, dispersants, auxiliaries in petrochemical industry, textile printing and dyeing, wastewater treatment, and as collectors in mineral flotation.
