Physical Properties:Mordenite is a white to slightly red powder with an orthorhombic structure. It has elliptical 12-membered ring main channels built from four- and five-membered rings, connected by eight-membered ring channels. The main channel size is approximately 0.695 × 0.581 nm, and the eight-membered ring aperture is about 0.28 nm. It possesses a large specific surface area, excellent ion-exchange and adsorption properties, good acid resistance and thermal stability, and is insoluble in water and organic solvents.
Uses:Mordenite, with its excellent adsorption and ion-exchange properties, is widely used in environmental protection, such as treatment of high-fluoride water, industrial wastewater, purification of domestic water, and hard water softening. It is also used as an adsorbent and desiccant for waste gas treatment and air purification. In catalysis, it is applied in catalytic cracking, hydrocracking, reforming, dewaxing, and isomerization of alkanes/olefins.
