Slightly soluble in water, freely soluble in methanol, ethanol, acetone, chloroform and other organic solvents. Relatively stable under acidic conditions, readily degrades under alkaline conditions, and sensitive to light and heat.
Uses:Mupirocin is a topical antibiotic that exerts its antibacterial effect by specifically binding to bacterial isoleucyl-tRNA synthetase, thereby blocking protein synthesis. It demonstrates potent activity against Gram-positive organisms such as staphylococci and streptococci. Clinically, it is used for the treatment of primary skin infections including impetigo, folliculitis and furunculosis, as well as secondary infected skin conditions such as infected eczema and infected wounds.
