Physical Properties:Dark yellow to yellow-brown powder, odorless and with low flammability; sparingly soluble in water, ethanol, acetone and most organic solvents; readily soluble in sodium sulfide solution to form a leuco compound, which develops color upon oxidation in air; turns dark blue with concentrated sulfuric acid and gives a yellow precipitate after dilution; decomposes above 300°C.
Uses:It is mainly used for dyeing and printing of cellulose fibers such as cotton, linen and viscose, and also for coloring polyester/cotton blended fabrics and leather. During dyeing, it is reduced and dissolved with sodium sulfide, applied by exhaust or pad dyeing, then oxidized and developed in air, followed by water washing and soaping. It can be used in admixture with other sulfur dyes such as Sulphur Black.
