Insoluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, dimethyl sulfoxide and other organic solvents. Light-sensitive and should be stored in a sealed container away from light.
Uses:Amphotericin B is a polyene antifungal antibiotic produced by fermentation of Streptomyces nodosus, identical to Lushanmycin. Its mechanism of action involves binding to ergosterol in the fungal cell membrane, altering membrane permeability and causing leakage of intracellular contents, thereby exerting fungicidal effects. It is primarily used for the treatment of deep fungal infections caused by Candida, Aspergillus, Cryptococcus and other pathogens, and also as an adjunct in the treatment of leishmaniasis.
