Slightly soluble in water; miscible with ethanol, ether, acetone and other organic solvents. Readily polymerizes; usually contains an inhibitor.
Uses:Used as a monomer for polymers and resins and as an intermediate in organic synthesis, mainly for the production of synthetic resins, synthetic fibers, synthetic rubber, plastics, coatings, adhesives, etc. As a soft monomer, butyl acrylate can copolymerize with hard monomers such as methyl methacrylate, styrene, acrylonitrile and vinyl acetate, and is widely used in emulsion polymerization and solution polymerization.
