Physical Properties:Light yellow to white crystalline powder with a pungent odor. Readily soluble in water, giving an alkaline solution; slightly soluble in alcohols, insoluble in non-polar solvents such as benzene and diethyl ether. Hygroscopic in air, gradually oxidized and decomposed; decomposed by acids, releasing carbon disulfide.
Uses:Mainly used as a flotation collector for non-ferrous metal sulfide ores, especially for copper, lead, and zinc ores. Also used as a rubber vulcanization accelerator, intermediate in pesticide synthesis, and analytical reagent.
