Slowly deliquesces in air when exposed for a long period; should be sealed and stored in a dry place.
Uses:Used as an intermediate in the production of metallic cerium and as a catalyst in organic synthesis. Also applied as an auxiliary reagent in rare earth separation and analysis, and as a dopant in specialty glass and ceramics.
