Physical Properties:Light purple crystalline powder with no distinct odor. Insoluble in water but readily soluble in inorganic acids such as hydrochloric acid and nitric acid. Loses part of its crystal water at about 100°C and finally decomposes to neodymium oxide upon high-temperature calcination. Stable in air, slightly hygroscopic, and should be stored in a sealed container.
Uses:It is mainly used as an intermediate for preparing high-purity neodymium oxide and neodymium metal. It is widely applied for rare-earth doping in optical glasses, laser crystals, and ceramic materials, and can also be used as a rare earth catalyst in organic synthesis.
