Physical Properties:White to off-white crystalline powder, odourless. Melting point: 193.5–195 °C. Vapour pressure is very low at 20 °C. Water solubility increases with pH; approximately 6.36 mg/L at pH 7 and 20 °C. Readily soluble in common organic solvents such as acetone and ethanol.
Uses:A systemic herbicide used mainly in cereal fields such as wheat and barley for post-emergence control of broadleaf weeds, including catchweed bedstraw, chickweed, flixweed and shepherd's purse. It inhibits acetolactate synthase (ALS) and is translocated bidirectionally in plants, causing treated weeds to stop growing rapidly.
