Physical Properties:Dark blue to black powder; slightly soluble in water, soluble in ethanol and acetone. The solution appears blue. In alkaline media the color deepens and it forms stable colored complexes with metal ions such as aluminum, beryllium, and gallium.
Uses:Used as a colorimetric reagent and complexometric indicator for the determination of aluminum, beryllium, gallium and other metal ions; used as a metallochromic indicator in EDTA titration; also used for mordant dyeing of protein fibers such as wool and silk.
