Physical Properties:White to off-white solid powder, hygroscopic, readily soluble in water. It is a water-soluble NHS ester acylation reagent containing a hydrophilic sulfonate sodium salt. It hydrolyzes slowly in aqueous solution, and the acylation activity gradually decreases with hydrolysis; store away from light and moisture at low temperature.
Uses:A water-soluble NHS ester acylation reagent that irreversibly reacts with primary amine groups (e.g., lysine ε-amino groups) at pH above 7 to introduce acetyl groups into target molecules. It is commonly used to block primary amines before protein crosslinking to prevent protein self-polymerization. It is also applied to inhibit polymerization during conjugation of hapten peptides to carrier proteins for immunogen preparation, and serves as an amine-blocking agent in bioconjugation and labeling experiments.
