Insoluble in water, soluble in ethanol, ether, acetone and other organic solvents. Moisture-sensitive; readily hydrolyzes upon exposure to water or moisture.
Uses:Used as an organosilicon synthetic intermediate for the preparation of phenoxysilane compounds; employed as a silylation reagent in organic synthesis for protecting active groups such as hydroxyl and carboxyl; also used in the modification of silicone rubber and silicone resin, as well as in the synthesis of pharmaceutical and pesticide intermediates.
