Soluble in methanol, ethanol, ether, tetrahydrofuran and other organic solvents; hydrolyzes slowly in water releasing hydrogen. Air and moisture sensitive, store under inert atmosphere.
Uses:Used as a mild reducing agent in organic synthesis for the reduction of aldehydes, ketones, imines and oximes, as well as in reductive amination. Also serves as a borane donor in hydroboration reactions for the synthesis of pharmaceutical intermediates and fine chemicals.
