In materials science, it is applied in the preparation of semiconductor composite films via plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition, and in the synthesis of crosslinked benzocyclobutene resins containing m-carborane and siloxane backbones. It is also used as an additive in rocket propellants and as a reducing agent in organic synthesis.
