Uses:Mainly used as a silylation reagent in organic synthesis, converting compounds containing active hydrogen (such as alcohols, phenols, carboxylic acids, and amines) into their corresponding trimethylsilyl derivatives. Widely employed in derivatization pretreatment of samples for gas chromatography and mass spectrometry analysis to improve volatility and thermal stability. Also commonly used as an intermediate in the silylation protection reactions of amino acids, peptides, nucleotides, and antibiotic drugs.
