Physical Properties:White to off-white free-flowing powder or milky emulsion, soluble in water yielding a weakly acidic solution. Possesses excellent film-forming, thickening, suspending, and dispersing properties. The viscosity of aqueous solutions increases significantly with concentration and degree of neutralization. Films formed are clear, transparent, and flexible. Exhibits good tolerance to hard water and common electrolytes.
Uses:Widely used as a film former, thickener, and suspending agent in cosmetics and personal care products, suitable for hair sprays, mousses, skin care lotions, and sunscreens. Also used as a rheology modifier and adhesion promoter in waterborne coatings and pressure-sensitive adhesives. Additionally applied in textile finishing and paper coating.
