Physical Properties:It appears as a colorless to light yellow transparent viscous liquid or waxy solid with little or no ester-like odor. It is soluble in water, ethanol, acetone and other polar solvents, but insoluble in diethyl ether and aliphatic hydrocarbons. The relative density is about 1.10-1.20 (25°C), the boiling point is above 200°C (with decomposition), and the flash point is above 110°C. It has good thermal stability and biodegradability.
Uses:It can be used as a polymeric plasticizer to improve the flexibility of PVC and other materials, and also as a lubricant, surfactant, and drug sustained-release carrier. In biomedical materials, it is often used to prepare biodegradable polyester polymers and microsphere formulations.
