- 无色、无味、无毒、不易挥发的液体，可在50~180°C温度内长期使用。不溶于水、甲醇、二醇和2-乙氧基乙醇，可与苯、二甲苯、乙醚、四氯化碳或煤油互溶，稍溶于丙酮、二噁烷、乙醇和丁醇。随着链段数n的不同，分子量增大，粘度也增高，可有各种不同粘度，从0.65厘沲直到上百万厘沲。具有温粘系数小、粘度范围广、凝固点低、抗剪能力高、化学稳定性好、抗氧化、闪点高、挥发性小、绝缘性好、表面张力小、对金属无腐蚀、无毒、耐热性好、耐候性好、疏水性好、生理惰性、较高的抗压缩性，有的品种还具有耐辐射性能。

Viscosity increases with molecular weight (chain length n), ranging from 0.65 cSt to over one million cSt. Features include low viscosity-temperature coefficient, wide viscosity range, low pour point, high shear resistance, good chemical stability, oxidation resistance, high flash point, low volatility, excellent electrical insulation, low surface tension, non-corrosive to metals, non-toxic, good heat and weather resistance, hydrophobicity, physiological inertness, high compressibility resistance; some varieties are radiation-resistant.
Uses:Silicone oil of various viscosities is commonly used as lubricating oil, damping oil, insulating oil, defoamer, mold release agent, polishing agent, isolating agent and vacuum diffusion pump oil. Its emulsion is used for tire polishing and dashboard polishing. After emulsification or modification, it is applied in textile finishing to provide smooth and soft hand feel, and added to shampoo to improve hair lubricity.
