Physical Properties:Yellow powder. Melting point >300°C. Soluble in water giving a yellow solution, slightly soluble in ethanol and acetone, insoluble in benzene, chloroform and other organic solvents. It appears deep blue in concentrated sulfuric acid and turns yellow after dilution.
Uses:Mainly used for dyeing cellulose fibers such as cotton, linen and viscose, and also for dyeing leather and paper pulp. It can dye silk and wool in a weakly acidic bath.
