Physical Properties:White to light yellow crystalline powder or crystals, molecular weight 133.15, melting point approximately 80–95°C (technical grade is a mixture of 4-methyl and 5-methyl isomers), boiling point approximately 270°C, flash point approximately 150°C. Readily soluble in ethanol, benzene, chloroform and other organic solvents; slightly soluble in water. Aqueous solutions are weakly alkaline. Volatile, with good anti-rust and corrosion-inhibiting performance for metals such as copper and aluminum.
Uses:Mainly used as an excellent corrosion inhibitor for copper and copper alloys, widely applied in circulating cooling water systems, antirust oils, lubricating greases, and metalworking fluids. It can also serve as a vapor-phase rust inhibitor for non-ferrous metals, providing anti-corrosion protection in coatings, cleaning agents, and sealing materials.
