Decomposes upon contact with water or alcohols, releasing hydrogen chloride; store sealed under dry conditions.
Uses:Primarily used as an organic synthesis intermediate for converting alcohols into tetrahydropyranyl (THP) protected ethers, serving as a common hydroxyl protecting reagent in the synthesis of carbohydrates, nucleosides, and natural products.
