Physical Properties:Blue rhombic lamellar crystals, hygroscopic. Decomposes at 170°C releasing oxygen. Easily soluble in water and ethanol, almost insoluble in ethyl acetate. The pH of a 0.2 mol/L aqueous solution is 4.0. Relative density: 2.05, melting point: 114.5°C. Oxidizing agent; heating, impact or friction with carbon powder, sulfur or other combustible materials may cause combustion and explosion. Low toxicity, LD50 (rat, oral) 940 mg/kg.
Uses:Used as an analytical reagent, oxidizing agent and catalyst in organic reactions; used for preparing copper catalysts, copper salts, pyrotechnics and ceramic coloring; used as a copper source in electroplating and etching industries.
