Physical Properties:White crystalline powder or granular, odorless, with a slight citric acid taste. Hygroscopic; soluble in water giving a weakly acidic solution; insoluble in ethanol. Loses water of crystallization at about 120°C and decomposes at higher temperature.
Uses:Magnesium citrate is used as a secondary-element magnesium fertilizer to supply magnesium to crops through foliar spraying, drip irrigation and soil application. In industry, it acts as a metal corrosion inhibitor, rust preventive and organic synthesis auxiliary, applied in circulating cooling water treatment, boiler water treatment, esterification reactions, eco-friendly coatings and electroplating baths. In textiles, it serves as a dyeing mordant, fixing agent and functional finishing agent for anti-shrinkage and antistatic properties.
