Physical Properties:White to off-white crystalline powder, odorless. Readily soluble in water (≥100 mg/mL), slightly soluble in methanol and ethanol, practically insoluble in nonpolar organic solvents such as diethyl ether and acetone. As a bispyridinium oxime compound, it is weakly hygroscopic. Light-sensitive; store protected from light. Decomposes at approximately 255 °C upon heating. Aqueous solutions are weakly acidic (pH 5–7).
Uses:This product is an oxime-type cholinesterase reactivator (AChE reactivator). It cleaves the covalent bond formed between organophosphorus compounds and the active-site serine residue of acetylcholinesterase, thereby restoring the activity of the inhibited enzyme. It is used in detoxification research on poisoning caused by organophosphate pesticides and nerve agents (sarin, VX, tabun, soman, etc.). As a pharmaceutical reference standard, it is widely applied in biochemical and pharmacological studies, pharmacokinetic analysis, and quality testing and control of antidotes.
