Physical Properties:Dark blue to navy blue powder, soluble in water giving a violet-blue solution, slightly soluble in ethanol and acetone, insoluble in benzene and chloroform. It is an azo-type acid mordant dye that forms stable complexes with chromium mordants.
Uses:Mainly used for dyeing and printing of protein fibers such as wool and silk in combination with chromium mordants, also applicable to leather dyeing. It produces navy blue shades with good light fastness and washing fastness.
