Uses:This product is a potent inducer of β-galactosidase, not metabolized by bacteria and highly stable. It is commonly used in cloning experiments requiring induction of β-galactosidase activity. It is often used in combination with X-Gal or Bluo-Gal for blue-white screening of recombinant bacterial colonies and can induce lac operon expression in E. coli. It functions by binding to the lacI repressor protein and altering its conformation, thereby preventing repression of the lacZ gene.
