Physical Properties:White or almost white crystalline powder, odorless, slightly bitter taste, hygroscopic. Freely soluble in water, slightly soluble in ethanol, practically insoluble in diethyl ether.
Uses:It is a semi-synthetic penicillin antibiotic with strong antibacterial activity against both gram-negative and gram-positive bacteria, especially notable against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Clinically used for the treatment of respiratory tract, urinary tract, biliary tract and skin/soft tissue infections, as well as septicemia, peritonitis and other severe infections.
