Slightly soluble in water, freely soluble in ethanol, ether and other organic solvents. Due to the presence of a double bond and a carboxyl group, it is highly reactive and prone to radical polymerization; storage requires an inhibitor.
Uses:Used as a monomer for the synthesis of fluorinated polymers and copolymers, and as an organic synthesis intermediate to introduce trifluoromethyl (CF₃) groups; also used as a raw material for agrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, and functional coatings.
