Physical Properties:White to off-white crystalline powder; readily soluble in water, methanol, N,N-dimethylformamide and other polar solvents; slightly soluble in diethyl ether, toluene and other non-polar solvents; relatively stable in air; should be stored sealed, protected from light, and kept dry.
Uses:Used as a free-radical trifluoromethylation reagent; generates trifluoromethyl radicals in the presence of oxidants, enabling introduction of CF3 groups into arenes, heterocycles, alkenes and other substrates; also employed in trifluoromethylation modifications in pharmaceutical, agrochemical and fine fluorine-containing chemical synthesis.
