Melting point approximately 89–93°C, boiling point approximately 285°C, relative density approximately 1.27 g/cm³. 1 g dissolves in approximately 55 mL water, 10 mL ethanol, 17 mL propylene glycol, or 5 mL chloroform. Turns gradually from white to red upon contact with iron; solutions are relatively stable.
