Physical Properties:White powder. Melting point approximately 91-93°C. Slightly soluble in water; freely soluble in organic solvents such as acetone, chloroform and xylene. Thermally stable; stable under acidic conditions, decomposes in the presence of alkali.
Uses:This product is a highly selective systemic fungicide. It is used for seed dressing, seed soaking and seed steeping to control smut diseases of wheat, barley, oats, corn, sorghum and millet, and can also be applied as a foliar spray for controlling rust diseases on wheat, beans and pears, as well as cotton seedling diseases, Verticillium wilt and damping-off. It is effective against Rhizoctonia, and is especially suitable for seed treatment of cotton, peanuts, vegetables and sugar beets. It also exhibits growth-stimulating effects on crops. Carboxin has low toxicity to humans and livestock, but must not be allowed to come into contact with the eyes. Seeds treated with carboxin must not be used for food or feed.
