Physical Properties:White crystalline powder, hygroscopic and easily deliquescent. Melting point approximately 300°C (decomposes), relative density 1.295. Freely soluble in water, ethanol and acetone. Aqueous solution is nearly neutral (pH 6-8).
Uses:Mainly used as an intermediate in the pesticide industry for the synthesis of herbicides and insecticides; also used as a plant defoliant. It can be combined with hydrogen peroxide as a milk preservative with mold-inhibiting activity. It is also used as a chemical analytical reagent and in textile dyeing and printing auxiliaries.
