It is neutral and neither distinctly acidic nor basic. Due to the presence of numerous methyl groups, it is highly hydrophobic and not prone to absorbing water. However, because it contains oxygen atoms, it can react with water under certain conditions to form silanols and methanol.
Uses:Mainly used in the synthesis of organosilicon polymers, as well as for preparing specific organosilicon compounds serving as surface treatment agents, coupling agents, crosslinking agents, etc. In industrial applications, it serves as a raw material for surfactants, lubricants, silicone oils, release agents, foaming agents, rubber plasticizers, and also as a pesticide synergist.
