It is insoluble in water and soluble in ethanol, isopropanol, ethylene glycol, chloroform and other organic solvents. It shows weak cationic properties, can form salts with acids and chelate with metal ions.
Uses:Primarily used as an asphalt emulsifier, metal corrosion inhibitor and antirust agent. It is also used in the production of quaternary ammonium salt bactericides, amphoteric surfactants and oilfield chemicals, as well as an additive for lubricating oils and a mineral flotation agent.
